Water Pressure Campaign

We need a Citizens’ Assembly on Water

Water Pressure is a growing alliance of organisations dedicated to finding the inclusive and long-term solutions we need in the management of our water. Water is life and our future depends on it. Together we can build the pressure for change.

To tackle the water crisis, we need a new approach. Let’s harness the wisdom of the crowd in a Citizens’ Assembly, where a diverse group of people get together to learn about the issues, discuss solutions and make recommendations.

The water crisis is a complex problem that requires urgent action.

Failed Politics

Short-term thinking, lack of cooperation, and the influence of powerful industries, block progress.

Dying Ecosystems

Our behaviour is disrupting rainfall patterns, causing droughts in some areas and floods in others.

Pollution

Pollution from chemicals, plastics and sewage is poisoning rivers, lakes and oceans.

Mismanagement

Our overuse and mismanagement of water are draining nature’s water stores and drying up rivers.

Our Proposal

A Citizens’ Assembly on Water

Water Pressure campaign and raise money to fund a Citizens’ Assembly on Water in the UK, to respond to the suggested question:

“How might we manage our water in a way that is environmentally sustainable and equitable?”

This is open for further suggestion, and ultimately will need to be acceptable to the Assembly.

Our Scope

Read our scope to learn about the suggested topics to cover in a citizens’ assembly on water.
