To tackle the water crisis, we need a new approach. Let’s harness the wisdom of the crowd in a Citizens’ Assembly, where a diverse group of people get together to learn about the issues, discuss solutions and make recommendations.
The water crisis is a complex problem that requires urgent action.
Failed Politics
Short-term thinking, lack of cooperation, and the influence of powerful industries, block progress.
Dying Ecosystems
Our behaviour is disrupting rainfall patterns, causing droughts in some areas and floods in others.
Pollution
Pollution from chemicals, plastics and sewage is poisoning rivers, lakes and oceans.
Mismanagement
Our overuse and mismanagement of water are draining nature’s water stores and drying up rivers.
The Reason for Water Pressure
Water pollution, the destruction of nature, usage restrictions and toxic leaks are the legacies of neglect, complacency, short-term decision-making and profiteering. Politicians have failed us.
The degradation of this vital natural resource is energising people to take action, to demand change and to take control of a failing system. Finding solutions to these complex challenges needs us to work together.
Water Pressure Campaign
Water belongs to us all. People are the proper stewards of water. We want everyone to assert themselves and decide how that should happen going forward. We are campaigning for a Citizens’ Assembly on Water because our water needs us to take action, now.
We campaign for the integrity of the Citizens’ Assembly and champion its conclusions. We are not here to promote the views of any individual or organisation within the campaign alliance.

Citizens’ Assemblies are made up of people from all communities who, given expert support, decide on what is in our common interest now and for the future.

Our Proposal
A Citizens’ Assembly on Water
Water Pressure campaign and raise money to fund a Citizens’ Assembly on Water in the UK, to respond to the suggested question:
“How might we manage our water in a way that is environmentally sustainable and equitable?”
This is open for further suggestion, and ultimately will need to be acceptable to the Assembly.
